Biography
James Poe (1921–1980) was an American screenwriter. He began his career at the newsreel company The March of Time and moved to Hollywood in 1941, where he wrote radio plays and documentaries before working on feature films.
Poe received an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Around the World in 80 Days (1956). His other screenplays include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), Lilies of the Field (1963), The Bedford Incident (1965) and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969). He was married to actress Barbara Steele from 1969 to 1978.
