Biography
James T. Mack was an American character actor active in film from the mid-1910s to the early 1940s. He was also credited as James McElhern and James MacElhern. Born in Chicago, he began his career on the stage as a musical comedy performer and appeared in several Broadway productions, including the original 1921 run of Anna Christie.
Mack is best known for numerous supporting and uncredited roles in Hollywood films. These include the Minister in Steamboat Bill, Jr. (1928), the High School Principal in College (1927), Johnny the Harpist in Anna Christie (1930), Pop in Libeled Lady (1936), the Prompter in Citizen Kane (1941), and the Minister in Theodora Goes Wild (1936). He died in Hollywood in 1948.
