Biography
Jan A.P. Kaczmarek was a Polish composer. He wrote scores for more than 70 feature films and documentaries.
Born in Konin in 1953, he studied law before turning to music through an association with the avant-garde theatre of Jerzy Grotowski. He later formed his own ensemble and toured in Europe. His film work includes Total Eclipse (1995), Unfaithful (2002), Finding Neverland (2004), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score, The Visitor (2008) and Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009).
Kaczmarek died in Kraków on 21 May 2024, aged 71.
