Biography
Jane Downs was an English actress. Born on 22 January 1935 in Bromley, Kent, she began her career in the theatre before appearing in film and television. She died on 20 May 2015 in London.
Her screen credits include Mrs Sylvia Lightoller in A Night to Remember (1958), Julie in Darling (1965), Lady Glossop in the series Jeeves and Wooster (1990–1991), and Dixie Goff in Midsomer Murders (2003). She provided additional voices for the animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993). Downs also appeared in Waiting for God and other series such as Heartbeat and Pie in the Sky.
She was married to actors Gerald Harper and Terence Alexander.
