Biography
Jane Murfin (also credited as Alan Langdon Martin) was an American playwright and screenwriter. Born Jane Macklem, she began her career writing plays, often in collaboration with actress Jane Cowl, including Smilin' Through (1919).
In Hollywood she wrote numerous screenplays, among them What Price Hollywood? (1932), Roberta (1935), Alice Adams (1935), The Women (1939) and Pride and Prejudice (1940). She also wrote and produced films featuring the dog Strongheart in the 1920s. Murfin received an Academy Award nomination for best original story for What Price Hollywood?.
