Biography
Janis Hirsch is an American television writer and producer. Born in 1950 in Trenton, New Jersey, she graduated from Rollins College in Florida. She began her career in New York working for the National Lampoon Show and magazine before moving to Los Angeles, where she started writing for television with Square Pegs in the early 1980s.
Hirsch has written episodes of and held producing roles on series including The Nanny (1994–1995), Murphy Brown (1997–1998), Frasier (1998–1999, supervising producer and writer), Will & Grace (co-executive producer), My Wife and Kids, 8 Simple Rules and Hacks (2021, consulting producer). She received a Primetime Emmy nomination for her work on Frasier.
