Biography
Jeff Kanew is an American film director, screenwriter, editor and producer. Born Jeffrey Roger Kanew on 16 December 1944 in New York City, he began his career editing trailers for numerous films in the 1970s. He directed the documentary Black Rodeo (1972) and his first narrative feature, Natural Enemies (1979).
Kanew edited Ordinary People (1980), directed by Robert Redford. He went on to direct Revenge of the Nerds (1984), Eddie Macon's Run (1983), Gotcha! (1985), Tough Guys (1986), Troop Beverly Hills (1989) and V.I. Warshawski (1991), among other films and television episodes. He also directed stage and video versions of Kirk Douglas's one-man show Before I Forget (2009). His son is Justin Kanew.
