Biography
Jeff Richards (born Richard Mansfield Taylor) was an American actor. He was born on 1 November 1924 in Portland, Oregon, and died on 28 July 1989 in San Bernardino, California. He was sometimes credited as Dick Taylor or Richard Taylor.
Richards began his career with uncredited and minor roles in films such as Johnny Belinda (1948), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950) and The Bad and the Beautiful (1952). His most prominent film role was as Benjamin Pontipee in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). He received a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Male (tied) for the performance.
He appeared in further films including The Opposite Sex (1956) and Don't Go Near the Water (1957), and played the title role in the television series Jefferson Drum (1958). His final screen credit was in Waco (1966).
