Biography

Jenny Lumet is an American screenwriter and producer. Born on 2 February 1967 in New York City, she is the daughter of director Sidney Lumet and the granddaughter of singer Lena Horne. She began her career as an actress, appearing in several films directed by her father, including Deathtrap (1982), Running on Empty (1988) and Q&A (1990).

Lumet wrote the screenplay for the 2008 film Rachel Getting Married, directed by Jonathan Demme. She has contributed to several Star Trek series, including as writer and executive producer on Star Trek: Discovery and creator of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. She also worked on Clarice (2021), The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022) and as a script doctor on The Mummy (2017). She previously taught drama and has received awards and nominations for her screenwriting, including for Rachel Getting Married.
