Biography
Jeremy Clyde is an English actor and musician. Born Michael Jeremy Thomas Clyde on 22 March 1941 in Dorney, Buckinghamshire, he trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where he met his musical partner Chad Stuart.
In the 1960s, Clyde formed the folk duo Chad & Jeremy, which achieved success particularly in the United States. He has maintained a long career in television and film, frequently cast in upper-class or aristocratic roles. Notable credits include Governor Hermann Gessler in the series Crossbow (1987–1989), Dick Spackman in the sitcom Is It Legal? (1995–1998), Chief Super in Ashes to Ashes (2008), General Robertson in Downton Abbey (2010), and James T in The Iron Lady (2011). Other appearances encompass Midsomer Murders (1999), The Musketeer (2001) and Inspector Morse (1991).
