Biography

Jerrold Freedman is an American director and writer. Born on 29 October 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he began his career as a producer in the late 1960s before directing episodes of series including The Bold Ones: The Protectors (1970), The Psychiatrist (1971) and Night Gallery (1970–1971).

He directed the feature films Kansas City Bomber (1972), Borderline (1980) and Native Son (1986), as well as numerous television movies and episodes of series such as Kojak, MacGyver (1985, as Alan Smithee) and The X-Files (1993–1994). He has also written under the name J. F. Freedman.
