Biography

Jerzy Nowak (20 June 1923 – 26 March 2013) was a Polish film and theatre actor and teacher. He graduated from the Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Kraków in 1948 and appeared in supporting roles in numerous Polish and international films.

He is known for performances in The Promised Land (1975), Camera Buff (1979), Schindler's List (1993), Three Colors: White (1994), Quo Vadis (2001), The Hexer (2001), The Witcher (2002) and The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler (2009). Nowak had a long stage career, notably playing Singer Hirsch continuously from 1994.
