Biography
Jerzy Trela (1942–2022) was a Polish actor. He trained at the Ludwik Solski Academy of Dramatic Art in Kraków and began his career in 1969. He was long associated with the Stary Theatre in Kraków, where he performed under directors including Andrzej Wajda, Konrad Swinarski and Krystian Lupa, and served as professor and rector at the academy.
Trela appeared in numerous films and television productions. His credits include Man of Iron (1981), Danton (1983), On the Silver Globe (1988), Decalogue IX (1989) as Mikołaj, Three Colors: White (1994) as Monsieur Bronek, Ida (2013) as Szymon and High Water (2022). He received the Polish Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Quo Vadis (2001) and was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis in 2005.
