Biography
James Farley was an American character actor. Born on 8 January 1882 in Waldron, Arkansas, he made his film debut in the 1916 silent film Sins of Her Parent and appeared in over 200 films and shorts during a career that spanned the silent and sound eras.
He is credited as General Thatcher in Buster Keaton's The General (1926). Farley often played uncredited supporting roles such as policemen, sheriffs and conductors. His final film, The Man from Texas (1948), was released after his death on 12 October 1947 in Pacoima, Los Angeles, California.
