Biography
Joanna David is an English actress. Born Joanna Elizabeth Hacking on 17 January 1947 in Lancaster, she trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art after attending Altrincham Grammar School for Girls and Elmhurst Ballet School.
She began her career in the late 1960s and is known for television roles including Elinor Dashwood in the 1971 BBC adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, Mrs Gardiner in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, and appearances in Midsomer Murders, Inspector Morse and Downton Abbey. In 2005 she played Mrs Badger in the BBC serial Bleak House.
David has been married to actor Edward Fox since 2004; their children Emilia Fox and Freddie Fox are also actors.
