Biography

Joe Sachs is an American television writer and producer and an emergency medicine physician. He studied medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and also earned a master’s degree in filmmaking.

Sachs worked extensively on the medical drama ER (1994–2009) as a technical advisor, writer of 35 episodes, story editor and various producer roles up to executive producer. He has also written episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles (2009) and other series. He is a writer and co-executive producer on the medical drama The Pitt (2025–present), collaborating with former ER colleagues.
