Biography
Joe Tippett is an American actor born on 1 March 1982 in Washington, D.C. He grew up in Damascus, Maryland, and began his career in theatre, appearing in Broadway productions including Waitress and Airline Highway.
On television, Tippett is known for playing Sam Strickland in the NBC series Rise (2018) and John Ross in the HBO miniseries Mare of Easttown (2021). His other credits include recurring roles in The Morning Show (2019–2023) and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023–), and the miniseries American Primeval (2025). In film, he has appeared in Spirited (2022), Mr. Harrigan's Phone (2022) and as Dave Van Ronk in A Complete Unknown (2024).
Tippett has been married to singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles since October 2025.
