Biography
Joel Schiller (1930–2017) was an American production designer and art director. He began his career in the 1960s, serving as assistant production designer on The Graduate (1967) and art director on Rosemary's Baby (1968).
As production designer, Schiller worked on Lenny (1974), The Muppet Movie (1979), The Buddy Holly Story (1978), Nuts (1987), Clean and Sober (1988), Stanley & Iris (1990) and Narrow Margin (1990). He collaborated frequently with directors Martin Ritt and James Frawley. A trained painter who studied with John Groth and William de Kooning, he also created production sketches for Cecil Beaton on My Fair Lady (1964).
