Biography

John D. Collins, born John Christopher Dixon, is a British actor. He trained at RADA after winning the Ivor Novello and Robert Donat scholarships. After graduating he ran the Summer Theatre at Frinton-on-Sea for three years and worked in the first season of the Nottingham Playhouse.

Collins is the actor most frequently cast in David Croft sitcoms, appearing in six series and playing ten characters. He is best known for his regular role as Flying Officer Fairfax in 'Allo 'Allo! (1982–1992, with later appearances). His other credits include Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em (1973) as Dr. Boyde, Dad's Army (1971), Are You Being Served? (1972), Yes Minister (1980), Only Fools and Horses (1981), Doctor Who (1983) and Lovejoy (1986). He has also appeared in films such as Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968).
