Biography
John Nicolella was an American film and television director and producer. He began his career as an assistant director on Born to Win (1971) and worked in production roles on films including Saturday Night Fever (1977), Times Square (1980) and Easy Money (1983).
Nicolella is best known for his work on the series Miami Vice (1984), where he served as producer on the first two seasons and directed multiple episodes. His other directing credits include episodes of Crime Story (1986), Melrose Place (1992) and Dark Justice (1991), the television films Rock Hudson (1990) and the Vanishing Son series (1994), and the feature Kull the Conqueror (1997). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work on Miami Vice.
