Biography
Johnny Carson was an American television host, comedian, writer and producer. He hosted The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson from 1962 to 1992.
Carson appeared in archive footage in the 1983 film Koyaanisqatsi. He provided a voice for an episode of the animated series The Simpsons (1989) and was seen in archive footage in films including Behind the Candelabra (2013), Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018) and The Front Runner (2018). He also had an uncredited role in the 1965 series Get Smart.
Carson received six Primetime Emmy Awards, the Television Academy's 1980 Governor's Award and a 1985 Peabody Award. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987, awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.
