Biography
Josef Kubota Wladyka is an American film and television director, screenwriter and producer. He was born on 21 September 1981 in Fairfax, Virginia. He holds an MFA from New York University’s Tisch Graduate Film School, where he received the Spike Lee Fellowship.
Wladyka made his feature directorial debut with Manos sucias (2014), which won Best New Narrative Director at the Tribeca Film Festival and received Independent Spirit Award nominations. His second feature, Catch the Fair One (2021), was also nominated for Independent Spirit Awards. He has directed episodes of television series including Narcos (2016–2017), Fear the Walking Dead (2017), Animal Kingdom (2017), Narcos: Mexico (2018), The Terror (2019), Tokyo Vice (2022–2024) and ONE PIECE (2023).
