Biography
Joseph Sherrard Kearns (12 February 1907 – 17 February 1962) was an American actor. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and died in Los Angeles, California. He is known for providing the voice of the Doorknob in the Disney animated film Alice in Wonderland (1951) and for playing George Wilson in the CBS television series Dennis the Menace (1959–1962).
Kearns worked extensively in radio during the 1930s and 1940s. His film appearances include Hard, Fast and Beautiful (1951) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959), in which he played Lloyd Burke. He also appeared in episodes of series such as I Love Lucy, Perry Mason and Gunsmoke. Kearns suffered a cerebral haemorrhage during the third season of Dennis the Menace and died five days after turning 55.
