Biography
Joseph Stefano was an American screenwriter and producer. He wrote the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), adapting Robert Bloch's novel, and received an Edgar Award for the work. He also served as producer and writer on the first season of the television series The Outer Limits (1963).
Born in Philadelphia, Stefano began his career as a singer, dancer and composer before turning to screenwriting in the late 1950s. His other credits include the films The Black Orchid (1959), Eye of the Cat (1969), The Kindred (1987) and Two Bits (1995), as well as the television film Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990). He died in 2006.
