Julie Benz is an American actress. She was born on 1 May 1972 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and trained at New York University, where she earned a BFA in acting.

Benz is known for her role as Darla in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) and its spin-off Angel (1999–2004), and as Rita Bennett in the series Dexter (2006–2010). For the latter she received a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2006 and a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2009. Other credits include Rambo (2008), Saw V (2008), Desperate Housewives (2010) and Defiance (2013–2015).
