Biography
Julie Carmen is an American actress, dancer and licensed psychotherapist. She trained with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse and with Uta Hagen at HB Studio.
She came to prominence in the 1980s with her role as Jeri Dawn in John Cassavetes' Gloria (1980), for which she received the Venice Film Festival Best Supporting Actress Award. Other film roles include Regine Dandrige in Fright Night Part 2 (1988) and Linda Styles in In the Mouth of Madness (1994). She has also appeared in television series such as Grey's Anatomy (2005) and NCIS (2003).
Carmen served on the board of directors of Women in Film and IFP/West, during which she suggested the creation of the John Cassavetes Award for emerging filmmakers.
