Biography
June Kyoto Lu was a Korean-American actress. Born in Korea on 10 March 1932, she was one of the original founding members of East West Players, the Asian-American theatre company formed in Los Angeles in 1965.
She appeared in supporting roles in films including Big Trouble in Little China (1986) as White Tiger, Menace II Society (1993) as the Grocery Store Woman, Blood Work (2002) as Mrs. Kang and Lady in the Water (2006) as Mrs. Choi. Her television credits include recurring appearances as Mrs. Paik in Lost (2004–2009) and Mi-Cha in Vice Principals (2016–2017), as well as guest roles in Grey's Anatomy, Fringe and Gilmore Girls.
Lu was married to fellow East West Players co-founder Yet Lock until his death in 2019. She received a Drama Logue Award in 1994 for her performance in The Waiting Room at the Mark Taper Forum. She died on 23 May 2025 in the United States.
