Biography
Karl Walter Lindenlaub is a German cinematographer. Born in Bremen in 1957 and raised in Hamburg, he studied at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München from 1977 to 1981 and subsequently at the National Film and Television School in England.
He has worked repeatedly with director Roland Emmerich on films such as Moon 44 (1990), for which he received a German Camera Award, Universal Soldier (1992), Stargate (1994) and Independence Day (1996). Other credits include Rob Roy (1995), The Princess Diaries (2001), Maid in Manhattan (2002) and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008). Lindenlaub was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for cinematography on the 2014 miniseries Houdini and has served as director of photography on series including Suits.
A member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Bundesverband Kamera, he has lived in the United States since 1991 and taught cinematography at the University of Hamburg until 2004.
