Biography
Kasi Lemmons is an American actress, film director and screenwriter. She is also credited as Kasey Lemmons. Born on 24 February 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri, she began her acting career in the late 1980s.
Her early film roles include Perry in School Daze (1988) and Jackie in Vampire's Kiss (1989). She played Ardelia Mapp in The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Bernadette Walsh in Candyman (1992). She has appeared in other films such as Hard Target (1993) and television series including The Cosby Show and ER.
Lemmons made her directorial debut with Eve's Bayou (1997). Subsequent films include The Caveman's Valentine (2001), Talk to Me (2007), Black Nativity (2013), Harriet (2019) and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022). She has also directed episodes of television series such as Self Made (2020). She is married to actor and director Vondie Curtis-Hall.
