Biography

Kate Hardie is an English actress. Born Kate Louise Oddie on 26 April 1968 in London, she took her professional surname from her parents, comedian Bill Oddie and Jean Hart. She began acting without formal training, securing her first role at age 14 in the 1983 film Runners.

Hardie is known for film roles including Cathy in Mona Lisa (1986), Jane Woods in Cry Freedom (1987), Frances in The Krays (1990), Bella in Croupier (1998) and Rebecca Thornton in the 2016 series National Treasure. She has also appeared in television series such as Casualty and written and directed short films. In 2006 she graduated in screenwriting from the National Film and Television School. She was previously married to photographer Rankin.
