Biography
Kate O'Mara (born Frances Meredith Carroll) was an English film, stage and television actress. She made her stage debut in a 1963 production of The Merchant of Venice and later appeared in roles including Lady Macbeth, Cleopatra and Goneril in Shakespeare productions.
On television she played Caress Morell in the American soap Dynasty (1986), the villain The Rani in Doctor Who (1985, 1987 and 1993), and Jackie Stone in two episodes of Absolutely Fabulous (1995 and 2003). Other credits include regular roles in The Brothers (1975–1976), Triangle (1981–1982) and Howards' Way (1989–1990), and a part in Bad Girls (2001). She also appeared in Hammer horror films The Vampire Lovers (1970) and The Horror of Frankenstein (1970). O'Mara died on 30 March 2014.
