Biography
Katharine Balfour (also credited as Katherine Balfour) was an American actress. Born in Manhattan, she graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx and studied at the Actors Studio while modelling for magazines including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Her first credited film role was as Elsa in Music for Millions (1944).
She appeared as Sophia Kebabian in America America (1963) and as Mrs. Barrett in Love Story (1970). Later screen credits included The Adventurers (1970), the television film Bill (1981) and Teachers (1984). She also performed on stage, creating the role of Alma in the original 1947 Dallas production of Tennessee Williams's Summer and Smoke, and hosted the radio talk show Views in Brief on WEVD in New York from 1968 to 1985. She contributed articles to magazines such as Family Circle.
Balfour died in New York City on 3 April 1990.
