Biography
Katherine DeMille (born Katherine Paula Lester; 29 June 1911 – 27 April 1995) was a Canadian-born American actress. Orphaned as a child, she was adopted by film director Cecil B. DeMille and his wife Constance Adams DeMille. She gained stage experience in the early 1930s and made her first credited screen appearance as Rosita Morales in Viva Villa! (1934).
She played around 25 credited film roles from the mid-1930s to the late 1940s. Her work included The Crusades (1935), Call of the Wild (1935), Romeo and Juliet (1936), The Black Room (1935) and Unconquered (1947). She signed a contract with Paramount Pictures after early roles and later worked at other studios.
DeMille married actor Anthony Quinn in 1937; they had five children and divorced in 1965. She largely retired from acting in the early 1940s but returned for roles in Black Gold (1947) and The Judge (1949).
