Biography
Kazuki Ōmori (大森 一樹) was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. Born in Osaka in 1952, he studied at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and qualified as a physician. He began making independent films while a student and won the Kido Award for screenplays in 1977, leading to his professional debut with the 1978 film Orange Road Express.
Ōmori co-founded the independent production company Director's Company in 1982. He is best known for his contributions to the Heisei-era Godzilla series, directing and writing Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991), and writing the screenplays for Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995). Later in his career he taught at Osaka University of Arts, heading the Visual Concept Planning Department from 2006. He died in 2022.
