Biography
Kazuya Nakai is a Japanese voice actor and narrator. Born in Kobe, he trained at Aoni Juku Osaka while working as a civil servant, graduating from the school's 11th class. He made his debut in 1995 in Gulliver Boy and gained prominence with the role of Roronoa Zoro in One Piece (1999–), which he had specifically wanted to voice.
Nakai is also known for voicing Kanzo Mogi in Death Note (2006), Mugen in Samurai Champloo (2004), Toshirō Hijikata in Gintama, Date Masamune in the Sengoku Basara series and Halu-elu Dolu-do in the Godzilla animated films (2017–2018). He won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 5th Seiyu Awards in 2011 for his work in One Piece and Gintama. He is affiliated with Aoni Production.
