Biography
Kevin Lau is an American screenwriter and director. A graduate of Columbia University’s MFA film programme, he began his career writing and directing short films, including the thesis Made in Chinatown (2013), which won awards at festivals including the NBCUniversal Shortcuts Competition.
Lau has worked extensively in television for HBO. He wrote an episode of Damnation (2017) and served as story editor and teleplay writer on Lovecraft Country (2020). He later wrote episodes of and was supervising producer on the fourth season of Westworld (2016), wrote for The Nevers (2021) and House of the Dragon (2022), and has writing and producing credits on Dune: Prophecy (2024). An HBO Directing Fellow, he has an overall deal with the network and a Writers Guild of America Award nomination.
