Biography
Klaus Doldinger was a German composer and saxophonist. He was born in Berlin in 1936 and studied piano and clarinet at the Düsseldorf Conservatory from 1947, graduating in 1957. He began performing professionally in the 1950s with groups including The Feetwarmers and later founded the jazz-fusion band Passport in 1971.
Doldinger composed the scores for the films Das Boot (1981) and The NeverEnding Story (1984). He also wrote the theme music for the German television series Tatort, which has aired since 1970, as well as music for other series including Liebling Kreuzberg and Ein Fall für zwei.
He died on 16 October 2025 in Icking, Germany.
