Biography
Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is a Ghanaian-born British actor. He was born on 23 August 1977 in Accra, Ghana, and trained at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating in 2000.
He is known for stage work including the role of Ike Turner in the West End production of Tina, for which he won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2019. He was appointed MBE in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to drama.
His film credits include Doctor Strange (2016), Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) as Detective Crispus Allen, Paddington 2 (2017), Mary Poppins Returns (2018), Wonka (2023) and The Gorge (2025) as Black Ops Commander. Television roles include Balthamos in His Dark Materials (2019).
