Biography
Kôichi Hamamura is a Japanese production designer, set decorator and property master. He worked extensively in the art department on films directed by Akira Kurosawa, serving as property master on Seven Samurai (1954), Throne of Blood (1957), The Hidden Fortress (1958), The Bad Sleep Well (1960) and Yojimbo (1961), and as set decorator on Dreams (1990) and Rhapsody in August (1991).
Later credits include set decoration on Sailor Suit and Machine Gun (1981) and The Challenge (1982). He received a production design credit on Peter Greenaway’s The Pillow Book (1995).
