Biography

Laura Jones is an Australian screenwriter. She began her career writing teleplays for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and received her first feature film credit for the original screenplay of High Tide (1987), directed by Gillian Armstrong.

She is known for her adaptations of literary works, including An Angel at My Table (1990) for director Jane Campion, The Portrait of a Lady (1996) also with Campion, Oscar and Lucinda (1997) with Armstrong, Angela's Ashes (1999), Possession (2002) and Brick Lane (2007). Jones is the daughter of Australian novelist Jessica Anderson.
