Biography
Lawrence D. Cohen is an American screenwriter and producer. He wrote the screenplay for Brian De Palma's film Carrie (1976), adapted from Stephen King's debut novel.
Cohen also adapted King's It (1990) and The Tommyknockers (1993) for television miniseries, as well as Peter Straub's Ghost Story (1981) for the cinema. He wrote the book for the stage musical version of Carrie, which premiered on Broadway in 1988 and was revived Off-Broadway in 2012. Earlier in his career he contributed to Martin Scorsese's documentary Italianamerican (1974) and worked on Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974).
