Biography
Lewis Greifer was an English writer for television, film and radio. Born in London on 19 December 1915, he served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War before working as a journalist, including at the London Evening Standard from 1952 to 1956. He contributed radio sketches, among them for The Goon Show.
Greifer wrote for numerous British television series from the 1950s to the 1970s. His credits include the 1961 film Cash on Demand, the 1967 series The Prisoner (episode 'The General'), and the initial draft of the Doctor Who story Pyramids of Mars (1975), later rewritten by Robert Holmes. He devised the audience-participation series Who-Dun-It for ATV in 1969. In later years he taught at the University of Tel Aviv. He died in London on 18 March 2003.
