Biography
Liliane de Kermadec (6 October 1928 – 13 February 2020) was a Polish-French film director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Warsaw, she worked as a set photographer on films including Agnès Varda’s Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962), Alain Resnais’s Muriel (1963) and Yves Robert’s Bébert et l’omnibus (1963).
She directed her first feature, Home Sweet Home, in 1972 (also given as 1973), followed by Aloïse (1975). Both were screened at the Cannes Film Festival. She produced Chantal Akerman’s Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975) and directed more than twenty films and documentaries between 1965 and 2016, including La piste du télégraphe (1994).
