Biography
Louie Anderson was an American stand-up comedian and actor. Born Louis Perry Anderson on 24 March 1953 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he began performing comedy in the early 1980s and made his national television debut on The Tonight Show in 1984.
He appeared as Maurice, an ambitious employee at the fast-food restaurant McDowell's, in the 1988 film Coming to America and reprised the role in the 2021 sequel Coming 2 America. Anderson created and voiced the lead character in the animated series Life with Louie (1995–1998) and played Christine Baskets in the FX series Baskets (2016–2019), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He also hosted the game show Family Feud from 1999 to 2002.
Anderson died on 21 January 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada, aged 68.
