Biography

Louis Venosta is a writer and director. A native New Yorker, he began his career in theatre and dance, performing with companies including the Joffrey Ballet and appearing as a principal dancer in the film Fame (1980). He is an alumnus of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater Playwrights Unit.

Venosta has written screenplays for major studios, including The Last Dragon (1985) and Bird on a Wire (1990). His directorial debut, the short film The Coriolis Effect (1994), premiered at Sundance and won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival. He made his television directing debut on Grey's Anatomy in 2017. He serves as Co-Chair of the DGA Eastern Diversity Steering Committee and divides his time between New York City and Jalisco, Mexico.
