Biography
Louise Beavers was an American actress. She appeared in more than 100 films between the 1920s and 1960, most often in the role of a maid or domestic servant. Her credits include Make Way for Tomorrow (1937) as Mamie, Imitation of Life (1934) as Delilah Johnson, Holiday Inn (1942), 42nd Street (1933) and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948). She was also credited as Louise Beaver on some productions.
Beavers made her feature debut in the silent film Gold Diggers (1923) and appeared in other early films such as Uncle Tom's Cabin (1927). With the advent of sound she took on numerous supporting roles. Her later career included television appearances as a housekeeper in the series Beulah (1952–53) and The Danny Thomas Show (1953–54). She was inducted posthumously into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1976.
