Biography
Lyle Pearce Lovett is an American singer-songwriter and actor. Born on 1 November 1957 in Klein, Texas, he graduated from Texas A&M University with degrees in German and journalism before pursuing a music career in the 1980s.
Lovett made his feature acting debut as Detective DeLongpre in Robert Altman's The Player (1992). He subsequently appeared in three further Altman films: Short Cuts (1993) as Andy Bitkower, Prêt-à-Porter (1994) and Cookie's Fortune (1999). Other film roles include The New Guy (2002), Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998).
On television he has played recurring or guest roles in series including Blue Bloods (as Major Waylon Gates), Castle, The Bridge and Mad About You.
