Biography

Madeleine George is an American playwright and television writer. She grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, attended Cornell University and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and began writing plays as a teenager.

Her stage works include The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence (2013), a Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist that received an Outer Critics Circle Award, and Hurricane Diane (2019), which won an Obie Award for Playwriting. She is a founding member of the playwrights’ collective 13P and the author of the young adult novels Looks (2008) and The Difference Between You and Me (2012).

George has served as a writer, story editor, executive story editor and producer on the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building (2021–2024). She wrote an episode of and was co-producer on the FX miniseries Dying for Sex (2025). She is married to playwright Lisa Kron.
