Biography
Malick Bowens (1941–2017) was a Malian-born actor who worked in theatre and film, holding French and American nationality. After studying engineering in Marseille, he began his acting career and in 1971 joined Peter Brook’s International Centre for Theatre Research, with whom he maintained a long collaboration performing internationally.
He appeared in numerous stage productions and transitioned to screen work, gaining recognition for his role as Farah Aden in Sydney Pollack’s Out of Africa (1985). Subsequent film credits include The Believers (1987), Outbreak (1995), When We Were Kings (1996), Ali (2001) and Tears of the Sun (2003).
