Biography
Marc Cherry is an American television writer and producer. He was born on 23 March 1962 in Long Beach, California. He graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in theatre and began his career as a personal assistant to actress Dixie Carter before joining the writing staff of the sitcom The Golden Girls for its final two seasons in 1990–1992.
Cherry later co-created several short-lived series, including The 5 Mrs. Buchanans (1994) and The Crew (1995). He created the dramedy Desperate Housewives (2004–2012), which ran for eight seasons on ABC. He subsequently created Devious Maids (2013–2016) for Lifetime and Why Women Kill (2019–2021) for CBS All Access.
